Is anyone, that attended, able toprovide some feedback? We’re currently in the UK and missed the meeting.

Yes I attended the meeting and, from memory, the following points were covered:
Safety concerns especially for those that are living alone, be careful, don't leave any trip hazards around etc; it has been known for people to fall and injure themselves but not been found for several hours.
Street crimes, the "huggers". Be on your guard to anyone that wants to greet you and give you a hug, they use this opportunity to steal either your wallet or an item of jewellery. They work in twos, once the hugger has stollen something the item is then quickly passed to someone else so if you realise that something is missing the hugger no longer has the item on their possession. These people can sometimes be well dressed so looks can be deceptive.
Markets - lots of pickpocket crimes, especially taking advantage of holiday makers. They might distract you first then take your purse or wallet. Advice was given that if you keep your credit cards separate from your purse or wallet then the damage will be limited as the pickpocketers have limited time so will only take one item.
House crime - when you go out always lock your door rather than just close it. Vary your routine if possible as the criminals may watch you for several days to find out the best time to break in.
You can be prosecuted for violence against a criminal if they break in and the criminal only takes material items. If however they use violence against you and you react with violence then you probably won't be charged.
ATMs - be aware when drawing out money as the criminals are looking out for you and they will follow you. If they do rob you the police advised not to resist as you may end up with either a broken bone in your leg or arm.
Alleged Gas Engineer or similar arriving at your house; these are imposters as any legitimate trades person would have a pre arranged appointment arranged by letter. Also legitimate tradesman won't ask for cash as payment is made through your bank along with your normal bill. Upshot, unless you have a pre arranged appointment don't let anyone into your property.
In summary the items covered were basic common sense and nothing new. However I did appreciate the police giving the presentation (let's face it I don't think they do this in the UK) and it shows that they do care about the ex pat community.

We went to the meeting... well, we WENT, but didn´t go in...
When we got there the car park was full, so we drove around for 10 or 15 minutes looking for street parking and could find no where to park at all. Other cars were doing the same...
....... so we went home...pity...
.
Thanks for the update...

Yes it was really busy. We parked down the street and arrived about ten past ten. Thankfully got a seat as a lot had to stand.
