Just to let you know to be careful if you are going to Torre hospital. Two of my friends (ladies) have been mugged in the hospital car park as they got out of their cars. It was two women who went for gold necklaces in both cases.
Be careful not to wear expensive and clearly seen jewelry if you are visiting.

Unfortunately, I have also heard of a few cases at different Mercadona stores. The type of thing where someone brushes up against you - and something disappears.

Sorry to hear this Rob, it's very sad but it's a sign of our times. We should be cautious where ever we are these days. I heard a similar thing happening in UK Supermarket car parks', where someone in a car asks directions as a woman is loading her car with shopping. As she turns to help, an accomplice (who had been standing near the cash desk as she paid by credit card and noted her pin number) grabs her bag...you can guess the rest ! It's important that we shield our pin number carefully when paying. I can't believe how many times I have seen someone inputting their pin number without shielding it, while people are behind them.

Your right you have to be aware of what is going on around us , often when we go shopping or to the bankect we are focused on that and don't watch what is going on or who is around us, I must say
that after 12 years I haven't seen anything and fingers crossed I don't.
