Correos Mail Boxes ?
Correos Mail Boxes ?
by viking » Mon Jun 25, 2018 8:30 am
Hi
Has anyone been using a mailbox at the local post offices (Rojales/Quesada),and if so any idea of the cost etc ?
Would I be correct in thinking that normal post (with our home address details on it) ,gets put in the mailbox automatically and we don't have to have P.O. box numbers etc ?
Any help,would be gratefully accepted.

Hi We lived at our house for 3 weeks before we realised that the post wasn't delivered! Our community had not agreed on a communial one ..we then opened a post box locally to us ..about 90 € for the year..we still use this even though we now have an address off community with a box where Correos deliver..I am not too sure what would happen if there was a parcel..I presume they would leave a ticket to pick up...hence our post room take in all our packages/parcels...saves all the hassle..Only time we got mail to the house was if it looked official ..Hope this may help

There is no problem... the mail is safe.. unlike the buzons where anyone can break in..
If there is a parcel that won´t fit in, they put a slip of paper in the box and place the parcel in big drawers under the boxes...or behind the counter if it´s bigger
.
This is in Rojales..

Mail with your home address will continue to be delivered to your home NOT put into your rented box within the post office. Only mail addressed to your box number will be put there.
Current cost is around €60 per annum, usually paid in February each year.

I must disagree with info given above. If you have an Apdo Correos box number, they do like all mail to have that address on your mail; however if you get mail with your home address on, that still gets into your po box number, but it may take a few days longer. The only post we get delivered to our house is if it has to be signed for. This is based on Rojales Correos.

Thank you for the replies,it's really appreciated.
So it looks like Correos issue a PO Box number to use,but ordinary mail can find its way into the box eventually if it has the home address on the envelope ?
Solves the problem of getting mail I suppose but not sure that using a PO box address is perfect, and may not be acceptable to some commercial senders (also a pain to let everyone know etc).
Strange how in this day and age Correos won't deliver ordinary mail, despite there being a personal post box on the front entrance wall.

There is no point if the Correos give you a Box No and you dont use it. You have to put your Box No. on and then your full address. It's to help the Postman who have to deliver to Communal Letter Boxes. It takes time to let everybody know but that's how it is. Commercial, Banks etc in the U.K. accept it but you must use both. Post does go missing without Box No. on especially Xmas and Birthday Cards.

We rent a mailbox with an independent company (not Correos). I’ve never had any problems with companies not being prepared to the PO box - even eBay sellers who say that they will only deliver to a physical address.
