Corvera

Corvera is opening January 1st 2019, Ryanair have booked their slots. San Javier closes December 31st this year.

Shame. San Javier is a nice little airport and very convenient for Torrevieja.

I can see a lot of people using Alicante but of course some won`t have any choice.

I would not hold your breath. As camionpilot says we have heard it all before. Can someone tell me who WANTS to fly to Corvera????

If you read the Spanish press today they ave only appointed the CEO to oversee the transission from San Javier , no mention of opening or closing dates now they have to start to apply for all the relevant licences, no airline will have booked slots as none will have been allocated yet. I t is going to happen that is for sure but this is fake news as to Ryan Air booking flights no one yet knows what month or even year yet.

Car hire companies have been informed and areas allocated.

I read somewhere a few years back just before I moved here that San Javier Airport was closing and they were opening Corvera to make way for the new Paramount World but haven't heard anything since.

Anyone know what's going on with that? Is it still going ahead or has it been put on hold like everything else lol

If a statement like this is made valenciasman it would be helpful to state where this information was sourced from so we know it is a fact and not a rumour especially as dates are mentioned. Just an observation

As the contract was only awarded to Aena in October it`s seems a bit early for anything to have been put into place including dates. The only definite thing at the moment is that it is indeed going to open at long last.

This link below is an 'old' topic from this forum (another reason why we keep archived topics) and it goes someway to explain the Paramount theme park 'plans'. They were reported in newspapers at the time and as happens a lot in Spain they were not just rumours but the news about the park has fizzled out and may now not be going ahead but you never know!
