New precinct

Have they finished the new precinct on Avda de las Naciones yet? We havent been out since early June and there were lots of roadworks and building going on then.

Cheers Danny, that's good to know. Do you know if any specific shops have planned to open there?

There's a brand new Mas y Mas being built as well as you come in on the corner across from the Chinese on the corner which should do well.

I believe its just before the arches as you approach from the busy roundabout on the RHS use to be a car sales/car wash there, before it was waste land. More congestion for Quesada residents.

Do we really need another supermarket in Quesada? The road are congested enough without building one near the arches. Nice flat town car park would be more appreciated I think

It does seem a strange place to build a supermarket given that Lidl's is so close. I thought they were planning a supermarket in the new precinct which would make more sense as I believe it is having underground parking.

And yes, a decent car park down that end of town would be a much better idea, the one behind Sabadell is always full unless you get there early in the morning.

I really don't know what the town hall planning committee (if there is one!) is thinking half the time. Anyone who goes near the arches in Quesada at peak times of the day (not just Summer) can see the traffic jams and congestion. Lidls certainly hasn't helped this.

In fact the Lidls road just off the roundabout was backed up to the roundabout the other day and the traffic was creeping along and at the same time the police were having to direct the traffic in the high street just inside the arches as the parked cars were making it difficult for traffic to flow both ways and police were stopping the traffic one way intermittently to keep it flowing -If the police had not done this it would have been gridlock and this was October!

Now the planners have allowed a Mas Y Mas supermarket with underground car park in this area. That car park will obviously only be for the supermarket and imagine the grid lock then!!
Quesada town is quite small and already has a Gamma supermarket and now a Lidls which seemed good enough...who decided it needed another big store like Mas y Mas?

I think we will end up just avoiding the area. Fortunately we live up by the old duck pond and our nearest supermarket is Supavalu at La Marquesa, although we do like Consum the best, but we can get there without having to go through town. It's such a shame as we love going to Oscar's for breakfast and watching the world go by. Then mooching around the 2 chinese bazaars and Jacqueline's and also popping in the Chop Shop. However if it is going to be permanently gridlocked it wont be worth the hassle. I cant see it doing those businesses in the lower end of Avda de las Naciones much good.
