Residencia help please!
Re: Residencia help please!

As there has been a lot of 'talk' recently about obtaining Residencia I thought it may be a good time to revive this topic, which is only a few months old and has some good advice on it.
If anyone can let us know how they obtained their Residencia (hopefully in the last few months) it could be very helpful.
Please post any experiences on this topic (not Privately) as it can then help others who may be hoping to go through the process soon.
Thank you.

It would be extremely helpful to others if people could post their genuine experience on this topic, after all that's what the forum is for.

Advice please. We are thinking of changing our current winter stay in Spain which is January to May. to October to May. Do we need a residency or padron or ?. We currently pay the non residency letting tax every September, also how do we stand for medical care. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I make that 7 to 8 months in a 12 month period. It would mean Spain becoming your main place of residence so you would need to sign on the register of foreign EU citizens residing in Spain, or residency. It would mean attending a National Police station by a pre-booked appointment and then signing on the padron at the town hall in Rojales.
Medical care would depend on your age. If you are over retirement age you can transfer medical care to Spain, obtain a healthcard and have full access to the Spanish NHS including prescriptions (amount paid varies from zero to 40% depending on how much you earn but normally nil or 10%).
If under retirement age in UK, you would need private health insurance. The lady at Rojales town hall is very helpful and will issue a temporary healthcard if you need one. You can then see a doctor but would be liable for the prescription charges. A full healthcard will be linked to your pay which tells the pharmacist how much to charge.
You would no longer have to pay the non-resident imputed income tax but would be liable for income tax in Spain depending on where your income comes from.
Loads of things to do but it really can be quite simple if you are prepared to wait at police stations and town halls (take a book).
At this moment in time (by that I mean now) I would really, really carry on as you are until we see the outcome of the Brexit negotiations (that's if you are from UK, of course). If you're from Ireland or another EEA country then crack on.
