Hand bag snatch be aware.

Hand bag snatch be aware.

Postby scubydoo » Sun Oct 02, 2016 9:44 am

Around 9.00 last night just up from Bar Studs in Benimar an elderly lady with a walking stick was the target of a bag snatch although not hurt she and her husband are badly shaken after the event. This can happen anywhere but just be aware in case they are targeting the area these scum bags normally target an area then move on but always better to keep an eye out.

Generally most of us are polite and helpful when out and about but try not to be, whoever it is asking for directions or whatever - Keep walking and act as if you don't understand is my motto.
The girls who were targeting people around the medical centre in Dona Pepa were going up to people and asking something, then being ultra touchy feely in their thanks and were picking pockets/bags. It's just not worth being polite even if it is out of character for us.

If you, Jan, know about these people and several others seem to, why aren't the guardia doing a bit of plain clothes policing at night
Would have been easy last night in Rojales as most of the police were in the flower parade
Actually it would be nice for the guardia to have a website similar to yours where locals and expats, of various nationalities, can post comments such these, could be quite useful

When my wife had her bag stolen, in more or less the same location, about 6 months ago, both the local police and the Guardia were on the scene within a few minutes, as was a plain clothes Guardia car. A few nights ago, about 9.30pm, near the Benimar side of the crosses, I saw a car that was driving around slowly and thought to myself "that's a plain police car" and sure enough, five minutes later, the occupants were out, chatting to a Guardia car, parked just round the corner. So I'm pretty certain they are out, looking for these people, which is good to know.
