Why anyone would want to pay an extra 0.75 cents on every pound staggers me. Do really want Marmite that badly.
Every pound you spend they add 0.75 so it's 1.75€
If it's marked at2£ it's 3.50£
If it's marked at 3£ it's 5.25£
The more expensive the item the extra it costs
If you buy 10£ worth it's 17.50£
It's a no brainier.

Considering Iceland have to pay 4% VAT on the food (not applicable in UK), the cost of sticking those ingredient labels on and the cost of transporting it over then it's pretty reasonable that it would be more expensive in UK.
Now, we very rarely use Iceland (I think we've been once this year) however there are some things in there that you can't get outside or are more expensive in Spanish shops because of the same problems with transport, labelling, VAT etc. and the non-popularity of those items among the Spanish although I did note they now have all the signs in Spanish as well as English plus a lot of Spanish people shopping in there.
There's also the fluctuations in the pound to euro exchange rates.
For example, poppadoms, tortilla wraps, soy sauce and other things are far cheaper in Iceland than outside.
On the other hand, there are many things more expensive there so a bit of judicious shopping is necessary. And we can't get corn beef in Spanish shops except in tins. Not that we have it very often but it is there if you want it.
They also have some good offers on now and again, Colgate toothpaste at 75 cents is one example we picked up last time along with proper loo roll.

Janjan, there is a massive Brit population in Quesada and surrounds, more more than dutch, german and swedes
Every Brit I have spoken too agree that an Iceland store would be so succesful but another furniture store ?
The area is riddled with Chinese stores selling everything from egg cups to sideboards so I doubt if people will flock to a wannabe IKEA
However, we will see, hope it's a success

There's an Iceland store at San Fulgencio which is only just up the road from Rojales. It also doesn't take long to get to the one in Torrevieja if you turn off at the roundabout by Hiperber (where the indoor market was and signposted Avda Cortes Valencianas).
