Record from satellite box

Does anyone know if you can record from a Golden Interstar satellite set top box. The reason I ask is that it has a USB socket. I'm thinking of an external hard drive or flash drive, but don't know much about it. Thanks in advance

Yes, external hard drive. We have a Western Digital box which just plugged into the USB socket and it paired itself up automatically. Think it was only about £40 or so from Amazon.

External hard drive, Samsung 1 TB or 2 TB hard drive from Amazon. Easy to pair up and does a fantastic job.

You can use a memory stick as well - though generally hard drives are more reliable. Once you have attached USB hard drive or memory stick, within menu you should now be able to access the timer option (greyed out if nothing connected).

What is the model number of your receiver as i have checked and all the ones I see can use USB for replay of programs from a hard drive but there is no mention of the USB socket being input and output so would not be able to record

Pretty sure they can all do both hence the USB. Just plugged my Western Digital in with one USB and it paired the sat box to it automatically. Does the record and replay through the same USB socket.

A lot of USB ports are wired oneway as they are there for test equipment only and yours is not the same make of receiver
