Device to save on Air Con

Device to save on Air Con

Postby Ergun » Wed Sep 21, 2016 9:43 am

Can anyone give me any advice on how to save on our air conditioning bills please? We rent our house out and unfortunately some of the guests abuse the air conditioning and leave it on 24/7 even when not in the house. I have been told we can fix a device that is motion sensitive so shuts off if no one in the house etc.
Also we would like something to set the limits of the temperature so it is not like a hot house or butcher's freezer!! Where can we get this device ... Is it easy to install and run etc. Any views and suggestions would be fantastic. Thank you.

Here is the email address for a UK company that supply these devices. They are wireless and you just need to put them on the wall by the looks of it. they have an online shop, basic ones are £40 a pop.

Hi Ergun
We have a meter fitted to the aircon in our apartment it was in when we bought it so dont know who fitted it but perhaps someone else on here can help on this. But yes some people just leave aircon all day, when they are renting WHAT A WASTE. IT doesn't take long switch on and cool the place down A meter will defiantly solve your problem. Having said that after the people who we bought off finished renting it out they had the meter disconected some way and we would like it reconected just for when friends have our place for obvious reasons so if you find someone let me know please. Hope this helps

Thank you for advice so far. I have emailed eco energy savers so will await their reply.
Maybe I will have to get something when I'm back in the UK and bring it out next year when we visit again. I assumed it would have been easy to get it sorted over here with the amount of air conditioning used.
If any one else has ideas please keep them coming... much appreciated. :text-thankyouyellow:

The villa that we rented for 8 weeks in the summer had a meter that we had to put a prepaid card into (£5.00) a time to run the aircon. It made my daughter far more careful as we could see how much we were using on a daily basis.

Just be aware when using the pre-pay systems to try and not let them run out and disconnect the power. Air Con circuits (especially inverters) are not really designed just to have the power pulled and sometimes need resetting after power cuts.

Hi link water you mention after power cuts the aircon units need resetting, is this something you can do yourself or do you need to call out a specialist?
