Taking friends from Rojales to Alicante Airport ???
by jorel » Thu Mar 26, 2020 8:30 am
I have a couple of friends who asked if I can take them to Alicante airport on Monday 30th March.
I have read several articles on line to say it is not recommend. Not sure what to do as dont want to let them down. Feel a little under pressure..
Any advice?

The answer is no you cannot take anyone to the airport. You are only permitted to have one person per vehicle unless the second person is discapacitated or it's a child under strict circumstances. The fine is from €300 to €1000. You will probably end up being turned around on the road and not allowed to proceed to the airport like happened the poster yesterday when going to the supermarket with her mother in the car.

It has been clarified by the Guardia/policia now on several occasions. It was not implemented in the first few days of the lockdown but the authorities are strictly implementing the rules now.
They will need to get a taxi

I don't think that true.Bee wrote:The answer is no you cannot take anyone to the airport.
No you can't drive 3rd parties but if it's a family member, or someone who has been staying in your home, then I believe you can take them to the airport but be prepared to prove your case as with more than one in the car it's a virtual dead cert you'll be stopped.
No idea what you're supposed to do if you don't have masks to wear?

(20th March statement from N332) Wouldn't have thought it was a justified reason when they can get a taxi or a bus, I don't know.
In the last hours, we have seen some publications informing about the possibility of being taken to the airport by a friend or a family member.
Sorry, but due to the restrictions of movement, this is not allowed.
We remind you what the Alarm State has established;
Art 7- Limitation of Freedom of People
All the permitted tasks must be done individually, unless accompanying an incapacitated person or for some other justifiable reason.
Therefore, or you drive by yourself and leave the car at the airport, or you use the public transport available; bus or taxi.
We attach the post published from the Traffic Department (DGT) reminding; one vehicle / one person.

Hi
Sorry A.N. but you don’t seem too sure about the advice you are giving others. You thinking it’s wrong and believing something else to be OK are a bit too wishy washy for me

Ever car is now being stopped at the entrance to the airport (not taxis or buses)and the police are checking every one,you will be fined on two fronts ,one out on a illegal journey as per Article 7 and 2 carrying 2 people in a 5 seater vehicle.
