Get two junior hacksaw blades slide one under the ring and use the other to cut the ring ring. BE CAREFUL old fireman's trick, I used for years

I'm assuming that youre talking about something like a wedding ring on a finger?
There is actually a very simple way to remove a ring without cutting it off, using some strong thread passed under the ring and wrapped around the knuckle.
There are lots of videos on Youtube including this one that uses dental floss:

Obviously a bit of lubricant such as soap or baby oil would help, as would assistance from a 2nd person.
Pete.

Unfortunately his knuckle is so fat.with arthritis it's impossible to get it off without cutting it. May try the small saw way.

make a partial cut with hacksaw or dremmel, then with pliers if skin under finger is soft squeeze the ring ,the cuts will open up,prehaps giving more access to the cutter,

believe he tried that Fred but couldn't do it, don't want to half do it then it's all sharp and nasty, he said his finger is really uncomfy and a little painful, poor bugger.

Do try this dental floss one that Peter has suggested as it worked over my arthritic knuckle. In case you don't know how it works, it gently unwinds the floss from below the ring, thereby forcing the ring up the finger literally half a millimetre at a time and very gently eases it over the knuckle. Not in the least painful. Worth a try.
